BARCC Walk for Change

by Windy Pham

Encore Boston Harbor has a robust volunteer program, and its employees are passionate about giving back to the community! When Encore Boston Harbor had to temporarily close its doors in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the employees demonstrated their commitment to the community by participating in the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center’s (Virtual) Walk for Change.

The Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) mission is to end sexual violence. BARCC empowers survivors of sexual violence to heal, provides advocacy and education for social change to end sexual violence.

When the Commonwealth of Massachusetts issued Stay-At-Home orders, BARCC needed to move quickly to modify its annual Walk for Change to comply with social distancing. The annual Walk For Change is a favorite of Encore Boston Harbor employees, and this year’s walk would be the 3rd year consecutive year that the company had participated in support of ending sexual violence.

Encore Boston Harbor employees were not deterred by the walk’s move to a virtual event! Around 100 employees, friends and family members participated in the virtual Walk for Change to support BARCC and survivors of sexual violence. Encore Boston Harbor team members also contributed $1,637.00, resulting in a $3,274 gift in support of BARCC’s mission with the Wynn Resorts Corporate Matching Gift Program.
